About...

Brought to you by Chef Eimear De La Rosa-Brazil a Waterford Native, returning home after over a decade aboard in Canada.

It's simple... It's a Book Club but instead of reading a book and having the chats we pick a Cook Book Author, cook a dish from their repertoire, all meet to try each others dishes and talk about the highs and lows of our creations.

A location and cookbook author will be chosen each month, shared on our website and Instagram @thecookbookclub.ie tickets will be launched on Eventbrite.ie on the 1st of every month. The Cookbook Club meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7-9pm.

Tickets will be first come first serve. Once your ticket is confirmed, you'll receive a link to a live shared document where you can sign up to bring a starter, main, side or dessert - any recipe by that month's featured cookbook author.

It's a pot-luck style gathering, so everyone brings a dish to share. We keep it fun and flexible to make sure we have a great mix of dishes on the night and even better stories to tell, whether your recipe turned out fabulously or flopped with flair!

Come along solo, with a friend, or bring a family member. My hope is that you leave with a full belly, a little more kitchen confidence, new kitchen tricks and tips, new found knowledge on ingredients and hopefully some new friends.

History of the idea

Let me be fully transparent. The idea of The Cookbook club isn't an original idea of mine. While living in Canada, I was lucky to attend a one-off cookbook club hosted by two incredible business owners. Twelve strangers sat around a table, each bringing something - literally and figuratively - to the table. The stories shared, laughter and honest confessions over how we all struggled in some way to create our dishes were real and unforgettable. A reminder that we are all just human at the end of the day.

As a busy, full time working Mam I had my own struggles on the night of the Cookbook club. Ever try make a Basque cheese cake with only tinfoil in the house to line the pan with? It may not look very appetizing but it definitely tasted great and made for a great story.

Alix Haddy owner of Good Greif Coffee and Bailey Franklyn owner of Harvest Table Nutrition, thank you for that night in October 2024 and giving me this wonderful idea to bring home. Where I get to experience Ireland like I never have before. Bringing people together, showing them that dishes don't need to look perfect, have all the right ingredients for a night to be filled with laughter and great memories.
